CATTLE EASIER FAT CATTLE There was a large entry of 356 fat eattle forward for yesterday’s market. Prime heavy beef comprised only a small. proportion of the yarding, the bulk of it being average weight bullocks and heifers and cows. There was a large entry of these. There were a few pens of well finished cows and heifers, but a large number of light and unfinished sorts. The sale opened quietly, with values showing a general decline, improved slightly towards the middle, and then eased again over the fluid stages. Prime bullock and heifer beef sold well at prices down 10s per head on last week’s rates, but inferior and unfinished beef did not meet with a keen demand and showed a decline of 15s to 20s per head. The demand from butchers was not keen, and exporters secured the .bulk of the yarding at schedule rates, prices being on a par with those of last week.
