DUNEDIN RETURNED SOLDIERS

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The monthly meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers' Association was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs A. Thomas (in the chair), W. F. Forrester, A. C. Laing ; A. S. Falconer, H. L. Paterson, J. M. White, C. L. Calvert, A. M'Hutchon, J. S. Skinner, A. Duncan, G. H. Ferens, A. J. Gordon and 0. L. Ferens (secretary). The chairman reported tliat two members of the association —Messrs C. M. Smith and J. R. Tilley—had died since the last meeting, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN. The secretary reported that the totals in the membership campaign to date were as follows: —Dunedin, 2414; Christchurch, 228 G. The Dominion membership for the 10 months ended January 31 totalled 21,277, compared with 21,640 for the previous 12 months. With two months still to go, there was every prospect of last year's figures being beaten. Twelve nominations for membership were accepted, and three inward transfers and one outward were confirmed. POPPY DAY. The secretary stated that arrangements for the Poppy Day appeal were well in hand. The lady conveners had arranged for helpers, and an appeal was being made for additional assistants in all districts. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. The secretary reported that the Hospital Visiting Committee (Mesdames Davis and Cardno) had visited the hospital on alternate Mondays during the month. Everything was satisfactory, and the wants of the ex-servicemen were being attended to. CROSS OF SACRIFICE. A letter was received from Sir Fabian Ware, permanent vice-chairman of the Imperial War Graves Commission (London), enclosing copies of drawings and specifications for the Cross of Sacrifice which the executive committee hoped to have erected at the soldiers' graves at the Anderson's Bay Cemetery, together with the Great War Stone.
