FIFTEEN INCH PYGMY

FOSSIL REMAINS FOUND DISCOVERY IN INDIA : LONDON, February 20. 'The Bombay correspondent of The Times states ,that the fossil remains of a 15-inch pygmy man, a 10-inch walking stick, and an 18-inch high cow were discovered at Vadnagar, in Baroda, and are likely to cause .4 revision of the theories regarding the cradle of the human race. The extinct Indian is mpre diminutive than the smallest known Central African pygmies. The remains were found in a well 150 feet deep. The correspondent recalls that the Greek historian Ctesias, in the fifth century, described black pygmies in the heart of India. They were ugly, with hair and beards so long that they ser-'2d as garments. They were excellent bowmen, and their language and customs were identical with those of other Indians. - PROBABLY A FREAK • LONDON, February 20. "I think it is too good to be true," said Mr M. A. C. Hinton (deputy keeper of the Natural History Museum), referring to the Bombay pygmy report. He added thpt it might have been a freak of some sort, but one discovery was unacceptable as evidence that so small a race ever existed.
