Herr Walter Eachl, ; the well-known mountaineer and a survivor of the illfated ‘ Himalayan expedition, was killed while' climbing in the Bavarian Alps. He fell from a, 50ft height and dies of his injuries. Herr Earn! was one of the party of-14 Bavarian Alpinists which set out to conquer Nanga Parbat—-the mysterious peak of the Himalayan chain—last Slay. Of these, four were killed. Ever since superstitious Bavarians have believed that there is some curse attached to the Nanga Parbat. The first attempt to conquer the summit in 1932 also came to grief. Veteran mountaineers saw in Herr'Radii’s death another sign of the Nanga Parbat curse.
