Roy William Godding,. aged 36, a salesman, was-to-day ordered to be extradited to New South Wales on a charge of stealing a car valued at £2OO, the property of an assurance society. A contingent of 80 Scouts from North Auckland, Auckland city, the Waikato, the Bay of Plenty, and the Manawatu districts returned to New Zealand by the Monowai after attending the jamboree held in connection with the Melbourne centenary celebrations. In addition to the New Zealand contingent, a party of eight Pijians, who also attended the jamboree, arrived by the Monowai. They will remain in New Zealand a fortnight before returning to Fiji. WELLINGTON, January 21. A house was raided, in Haining street last night, resulting in five Chinese being fined a total of £175 to-day. The keeper of the den was fined £IOO of this amount. It was stated by the police that one of those arrested said that if the police had been half an hour sooner, or half an hour later, they would have had to arrest 30, but a number had gone out to supper.
