'.'■- •, y ;WELLINGTON/JanuarJ^^; , The successful tenderers for the; supply of additional generating units in connection with the extensions at ;the Arapuni power plant were announced to-day by the Minister of Public Works- (Mr JBitchener).' The generators are to be supplied by the. Metropolitan Vickert Company, England, arid the turbines by Boving and Co v London. A small portion of the latter machinery is to bs made in Sweden, f The Minister stated that tenders were received; froiri England, Ainerica, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, arid Czechoslovakia. The' usual practice of extending a certain amount of preference for materials of British manufacture was adopted. , ' < The present plant vconsists of . four unitsi each of 15,000 kilowatt capacity. The two machines'now to be. installed will be each of 21,000 kilowatt capacity.
