TRAFFIC CONTROL
LIGHT SIGNAL SYSTEM EXTENSION IN LONDON (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, December 14. London’s traffic control has undergone a gradual transformation through the steady extension of the traffic lights system. Two years ago only 30 such installations were in operation, and 18 of these were concentrated in Oxford street. Now the number within the metropolitan area is approximately 370. Some criticism is directed at the authorities for the degree of caution they have displayed in extending the system, but the result of their policy is that London is now equipped with a light signal system far in advance of that used in other great cities. Meanwhile the system is steadily being extended, and traffic is working with a smoothness and celerity which mark a great advance on previous conditions.
