MEETING OF COMMITTEE At a meetingjif the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club last night those present were Messrs B. S. Irwin (chairman), R. Greenslade, H. Archbold, G. J. Barton, J. Black, W. J. L. Goughian, A. Clark, H. Halliday, D. Jolly, J, Mitchell, J. Richardson, and J. M. Samson, The chairman congratulated Mr Barton on trie success of his horse Indianapolis in the New Zealand Cup and the Christchurch Handicap. In connection with next week’s race meeting it was decided to pay one dividend where there are four or fewer starters, two dividends where the fields run from five to eight, and three dividends in fields of nine or over. The first race is timed to start at 12.15 and the last at 5 p.ra. Mr F. Kydd was appointed clerk or the course for the meeting and Mr R. James assistant. The chairman referred to the deaths of Mesdarites James (widow of the former secretary), Fogg (mother of the former handicapper), and Pigeon, or Gore, who had raced many horses at the club’s meetings. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased was carried in the customary manner. TROTTING MEETING CANCELLED (Pee United Press Association) NELSON, November 15. After considering the nominations for the Nelson Trotting Club’s December meeting, the committee of the club unanimously decided that it was useless to endeavour to hold the meeting, which therefore is cancelled. There is a. possibility of a meeting being held early in the New Year. __ PLAYGROUND DROPS DEAD (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, November 14. (Received Nov. 14, at 11.30 p.m.) In the hurdle event at the Woocleml Cup meeting to-day Playground crashed through the first hurdle and dropped dead. His rider was not injured. TROTTING VENTURE FAILS (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BRISBANE, November 14. (Received Nov. 14, at 11.30 p.m.) “The Shanghai trotting venture is a failure,” declared Mp A. L. Moore, chairman of directors of the Peking ami Tientsin Times, who is visiting Australia. He emphasised that there was no hope of the club being licensed. However, the club could race without betting facilities and one meeting was held, at which only 40 attended. The jockeys were consequently returning to Australia, and good trotters were being sold cheaply. LEADING ENGLISH JOCKEY (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
