A WILD AFFRAY
MAN AND WOMAN ATTACKED ASSAILANT SENT TO GAOL. (Pee United Press Association) CHPJSTCHURCH, November 12. A wild affray in a suburban house was described in the Police Court to-day, when Frederick Jamee Jones, a fishmonger, aged 40, was charged with assaulting John Henry O'Callaghan and also his wife, from whom he is separated, and who ie O'Callaghan's housekeeper. The police said that Jones went to O'Callaghan's house He had consumed some liquor, and had announced hie intention of murdering O'Callaghan and his wife. Jones attacked O'Callaghan, who was badly knocked about. Mrs Jones attempted to separate the fighters, but the accused seized a walking stick, with which he beat O'Callaghan, and blood spurted from the latter's head. After much fighting Mrs Jones secured the stick and attacked Jones. The stick was broken, and when the police officers arrived the building resembled a slaughter house, said the senior sergeant, and Jones was being held down bv O'Callaghan and Mr s Jones. Jones was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, with hard labour.
