German girls, on leaving school, will in the near future have to take a post as “ mother’s help ” for a year before entering the labour market. They will receive their board and lodging, but no pay. It cost £23,540 to maintain the Tower of London last year. Against this the return from admission fees and sale of guidebooks was £18,706.
