“PYGMALION”
Mrs Patrick Campbell, one England’s greatest actresses, made her reputation in London by her presentation of Eliza in Shaw’s “ Pygmalion.” Eliza Dolittle, the flower girl who is turned into a duchess, is one of the - finest comedy parts ever created, and the Dunedin Repertory Society have entrusted it to a young actress of great promise, Miss Mary Jolly. Playing opposite Miss Jolly will be Mr Ken Palmer, an actor new to Dunedin audiences, but who has had wide experience on the amateur stage in London. The,,supporting cast contains some of our best amateurs— Mrs Wakefield Holmes, Mrs O’Sullivan, Misses Elsie MTeak, Marian Crow, Kathleen Falconer, Mr Jack Bowron, Mr F. Gair, and Mr Bremner. The play is acknowledged to be Bernard Shaw’s greatest success, and the Repertory Society is confident that it will be the best performance yet attempted by it.
