COWIE CHALLENGE SHIELD.' The third and final match for the ‘ present season in the competition for the N. L. S.. Cowrie Challenge Shield was • fired at the Drill Hall range on Thursday ■ evening. This event is for teams of - five competitors and provides one of the most interesting contests in the associa- ‘ tion fixtures. The shooting for the trophy 1 has beep of a much higher standard thl* year than it was last season. Barnett’s : aggregate, which won on this occasion, ’ is 27 points better than last year’s win- ; ning score. Railway No. 1 team was , second, 20 points ahead of last year’s, .’ and Dunedin No. 1 third, the aggregate , for third place being 10 points better than 1 that whicn won the shield for the Dunedin Club last season., Three possibles ' were registered by individual competitors, , D. Marr secured one for the R.S.A. No. 1 ' team,. C. A. M'Nish for Dunedin No, 2, ; and J. Greepway, for Citizens No. 1. , Wyllie and Robson (Barnett’s), R. John- * ston (Dunedfn), and W. Warrington . (Railway) scored 79 each. Eleven 78’s ; were registered. Eighteen teams entered the contest and of these 13 fired at the . concluding fnatoh. The final results were ) as follows: 1
