SERVICE CAR OPERATORS
CONFERENCE OF ASSOCIATIONS PARENT ORGANISATION FORMED. A conference of members of the White Star and Aard Motor Service Associations was held in Wellington last week for the purpose of amalgamating the two associations into one registered body. The members of these associations, which, consist of approximately 100 road service operators in the North and South Islands, realised that the best interests of road operators and the travelling public generally would be served if all the major services were grouped under one association, and as a result of the conference it was decided to co-ordinate all passenger services interested into one organisation. The conference, at which the Railways Department was represented ns owner of a service car route between Wellington and Wanganui, was highly successful, and it was anticipated that all owners of motor services would link up with the new association. The following council was elected to control the affairs of the organisation:—• Mr W. Hayward, M.L.C. (Christchurch), chairman, Messrs G. R. Hunter (Oamaru), G. Gibson (New Plymouth), J, Newman (Nelson), H. M. Mackay (Dunedin), D. Martin (Wanganui) and L. C. Ryan (Rotorua), with Mr H. J. Knight as secretary and treasurer.
