Tapley and Co. advise that the Canadian Conqueror Is Vdue at Dunedin about September 25 from Montreal, via Australia to discharge Canadian cargo' and load ’ products. She will sail 1 hence for Lyttelton to complete loading for New York, Boston and’Montreal. NOLISEMENT WITH PHOSPHATES. Messrs .'A, S. Paterson and Co. advise that the steamer -Nollsement Is’due at Port Chalmers towards the end of nest week from the Seychelles Islands, via Bluff. She has, a part cargo of, phosphates for discharge at this port. RANGITATA . FOB ENGLAND. To commence Homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor liner Bangltata reached Lyttelton last Sunday from Auckland. Although vessels load scrap , Iron at Australian and, New Zealand ports at regular intervals, the first shipment from Halifax for some years was ’ recently made to an Eastern port by the steamer Lina L.D. NEW AFRICAN LIGHTHOUSE. The new lighthouse, costing £16,000, Is being erected at Cape Columbine, which Is known as one of the most dangerous spots on the South African coast. It will be equipped with a powerful fog signal and radio beacon. NEW GERMAN LINER. The new Norddeutscher Lloyd turbo-electric liner Scharnhorst, of 16,000 tons gross, under construction at the Woser yard of the Deschlmag, will have the Malerform type of hull. She is . the'eighth Malerform vessel to be ordered this year, making a total or 250,000 s.h.p. In the: 63 ships so far constructed on this design. The Norddeutscher -Lloyd already have four Malerform cargo ships In service, and, in addition to the turbo electric passenger ship, they have now ordered a ,7000-ton dw. cargo liner for service in the West Indies. She will have an average speed of' Hi knots, and will also have her hull constructed on the Malerform system. NEW JAPANESE MOTOR-SHIPS. . The Mitsui Bussau Kaisha, Toklo, have ordered from their Taina shipyard two motor ships of 6300 tons gross each. They will he 450 feet In length, 62 feet beam, and 39 feet 6 Inches depth, and propulsion will be from a 7000-b.h.p. six-cylinder double-acting twostroke Mitsui-B. and W. Diesel engine, giving a maximum speed of IBJ knots. The Mitsubishi Zosen Kalaha, Kobo, have laid the keel of a motor ship of 4185 .tons gross, ordered by the Azuma Kosen Kabushiki Kaisha, Kobe. She will be 360 feet In length. 50: feet beam and 29 feet depth, with propelling machinery comprising two 1350-b.h.p. Mitsubishi-Vickers Diesel engines. FRANCE-FAR EAST SHIPPING EARNINGS. The Cle. Saigonnalse de Navigation et de Transports, Paris and Saigon, reports a profit for the year, after deducting interest, etc., of 442,997 dollars, compared with 406,961 dollars hi the preceding year. The sum of 185,458 dollars has been devoted to depredation, 12,876 dollars to the statutory reserve, 105,000 dollars statutory interest on shares, and 13,906 dollars directors’ fees, leaving 125,695 dollars. Adding the sum of 209,894 dollars brought in, there Is a total amount available for the shareholders of 304,165 dollars, equivalent to a 12 per cent, dividend, leaving 229,165 dollars to be carried forward. The company’s services to the Far East have been curtailed owing to the small offerings of cargo, the receipts having declined from 166,619 dollars to 83,408 dollars in the two years. The subsidised line between Pnom-Penh and Battembang has been discontinued.
