A GERMAN’S APPLICATION

RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION FRIENDSHIP TO EX-ENEMIES (Peb United Press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. The Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association received a letter from a branch association stating that a German, who had fought for his country iigainst the Allies in the war, desired membership, and asking what it was to do. The Christchurch secretary replied that there was no provision for membersnip for an enemy soldier, but it was within the power of the branch to make the German ex-soldier an honorary member, the only consideration being his personal character. The secretary’s action was approved, the chairman (the Rev. F. T. Read) saying that he believed, in the principle of extending friendship to exenemies.
