THE AUSTRALIAN TITLE WON BY MRS ROBINSON (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph-Copyright.) SYDNEY, September 11. (Received Sept. 11, at 11.15 p.m.) In the final of the Women’s Golf Championship, Mrs Robinson defeated Miss Bessie Gaisford, 4 and 3, Finishing the morning round of the associates’ Australian golf title final all square with the New Zealand star, Mrs Robinson played superbly in the afternoon, and at the thirty-first had a commanding lead of four up. Ideal weather favoured the match, which was witnessed by about 1500 people. Miss Gaisford played faultlessly prior to going to lunch, but during the afternoon she had the misfortune on a number of occasions either to land in rain-filled bunkers or lip holes, and, with Mrs Robinson’s play being of such a high standard, Miss Gaisford could not afford to make slips. Miss Gaisford consistently outdrove her opponent, but both played their seconds and approaches beautifully. Mrs Robinson, however, had a frequent putting advantage on the greens. ROYAL AND ANCIENT TEAM VISIT TO DOMINION ASSURED. (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 11. The secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association has received cabled advice from London that all the members of the Royal and Ancient golf team have agreed to visit New Zealand and that the Australian itinerary has not yet been fixed. Further advice is expected within a week. THE BLEDISLOE CUP GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S GIFT. (Per United Press .association) - WELLINGTON, September 11. The Governor-General (Lord Blodisloe) has presented to the New Zealand Golf Association a challenge cup for annual competition. The council has decided that the trophy, which will be known as the Bledisloe Cup, shall be bold by the amateur player returning the best aggregate in the four rounds of the Open Championship.
