When Queen Mary paid an unofficial visit to Queen Mary’s Hospital, Stratford, a few weeks ago, she spoke to all the 219 patients. Her tour lasted two hours. The Queen spoke to a nurse who was admitted some time ago suffering from a serious injury to the spine. The nurse was employed at a London hospital and was holding a dying patient when he cried out for more air. The nurse .turned to open the window with her free hand, and in doing so severely injured her spine. The specialist who attended her took her to Queen Mary’s Hospital, and here she recently underwent a serious but successful operation.
