HOCKEY

AUSTRALIAN TOURING TEAM WIN AGAINST KAIKOURA. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 30. The touring Australian hockey team beat a team representing Kaikoura at Kaikoura to-day by six goals to nil. The Kaikoura players had been practising for the match, and although they could not rival the visitors in skill and combination they offered a vigorous resistance to the conquerors. The Australian forwards attacked for the greater part of the game. Goals for Australia were scored by Stonuing and Allan (2) in the first half, and in the second half by Lester and Allan (2). The weather for the match was perfect and the ground was in excellent condition, resembling the fast turf to which the visitors are accustomed in Australia.
