NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP (Peis United Press Association) HAWERA, August 29. The North Island Road Cycle Championship, over a course of 02 miles at Hawera to-day was won by C. Sowerby, Wellington (Bmin), 2hr SOmin 17see; F. Franklvn. Pnhiatua (ISimin), 2hr 57min SOsec; M. Hanley. Napier (12Jmin). 2hr 54min SSscc; T. Nixon, Auckland, (lOmin), 21 ir 52min 2Cscc; N. Batten. New Plymouth (Jljmin). 2hr 53min 57sec, The scratch men conceded 18min to the winner, and finished 12min behind him. The race was run under ideal weather conditions over tar-sen led roads. Of the 00 competitors 43 finished. The trophies were valued at Cl 10. the value of the first prize being f4a.
