MR JUSTICE MACGREGOR
A MEMORIAL GATHERING TRIBUTE BY SIR MICHAEL MYEM (Pee United Press Association) ’ WELLINGTON, August 29. Tributes to the memory of Mr Justice MacGregor, a. former member of the Judicial Bench, were paid by Bench, and Bar at a gathering in the Supreme Court this morning. There was a large attendance. and the.tributes paid- wefe eloquent of -the esteem in which the late judge was held. On the Bench were th£ Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), Mr Justice Ostler, Mr Justice Blair and Mr Juslice Smith, and Sir Frederick Chapman (a former judge)., ‘ o: ■ Among those present, were,five; sisters of tiie late judge, the Minister of Justice (,Mr J. G. CObbe), Mr E. Page, S.M., Mr Bishop (of. the Justice DepartiyenPe head office)., aiid Mk D, .G, A. Cooper (a former magistrate and registrar of the Supremo Court). y ' In the course of his appreciation Sir Michael Myers said that a .stern Toyer of truth, Mr Justice MacGregor upheld during his distinguished careeif at the Bar the best traditions of the ,profession, and during his .term of office a* judge all the- traditions of the British judiciary were safe in his.just and upright hands. Sir Michael Myers said he had, received a message from Mr Justice Reed (who was absent through an attack of influenza) joining in the sentiments expressed, on .behalf of the judges. , . ■ . Mr Hi .
