Omitting the earth roads and some wellknown bad sections, which are being reduced eacli season, the damage was mostnoticeable on roads furthest away in the grading operations. Up to this meeting practically all the well-travelled roads have been levelled in patches for frost heave, and these locations noted for gravelling during the year. Grading was carried out from Lauder Creek to Wedderburn, and is in progress. I met Cr A. Secular and Mr George, of the Vincent County, for further inspection of Lauder Creek boundary bridge. Several main members were found to require renewal, and it was considered that, as the abutments were sound, the moat economical job over any reasonable period would be the complete renewal of the superstructure (XSffc wide 40ft span) by means of R.S. beams and concrete deck. Idaburn-Moa Creek.—Ditching near C. Harrex’s was extended and deepened. This highway was graded throughout. Waipiata-Styx.—Surfacing repairs were carried out on the Styx Hill section and near Pigburn bridge. RIDINGS. Gimmerburn.—Grading is in progress on Barney’s lane and thence to Gimmerburn School.
