THE WATERFRONT With, the departure of the . liner Akaroayesterday afternoon, the Port Chalmers waterfront, with the exception of laid-up ships, again shows very little; activity. The next vessel to berth at' Port Chalmers will be the Tekoa, which will load' products there early next month. The small Bluff steamer, Tama-, tea and the Karetu are undergoing overhaul, and a fairly large number of men, both skilled and unskilled labour, are l employed on these vessels. CARGO STEAMER KAIKORAI The Union Company’s cargo steamer Kaikorai, which has been laid up at Port Chalmers for some time, is .to be removed to 'permanent moorings alongside' the old Mokoia • in Carey Bhy.'. l Since she was placed out of commission the Kaikorai has been, moored alongside- the Maheno at the Union Company’s wharf. The Karetu, which is undergoing over.hanl, will be removed from the Ceprge street wharf to the berth alongside the Maheno. ■i ; ... 1
