NEW ZEALAND BUTTER
♦— POSSIBLE MARKET IN CHINA. The possibilities of introducing New Zealand butter into China are discussed in a leading article in the North China Daily Mail, which also publishes a description of a visit to a New Zealand dairy factory by Miss Florence M. Knight, a resident of Tientsin on holiday in the Dominion. "Several years ago a large British firm at Shanghai took up the question of importing Australian goods, including butter and cheese, into China," the article states. "A certain amount of headway: was made, but, owing to lack of proper knowledge of the market, coupled with inexperience in properly packing Australian goods for export to China, the trade was limited. It certainly seems that there should be a Jemand for New Zealand butter on the Tientsin market. Australian butter can be bought locally, so why not the New Zealand product? The little extra freight on the ocean trip from New Zealand to Tientsin should not make much difference in cost. From all accounts New Zealand butter is much richer in nutritive properties than any other, even that which comes from Denmark, which has a reputation of turning out the best butter in the world."
