BIBLE IN SCHOOLS

THE NELSON SYSTEM (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, August 20. The Nelson Education Board carried the following resolution:—"We are strongly of the opinion that New Zealand's national system of education—free, aectilar, and compulsory—should "be . maintained. Further, judged by the spirit, purpose, and evidence of the benefit* of the Nelson system of religious instruction, which is and has been in operation in this district for n number of years, this board recommends that the system be adopted in all other education districts iu the Dominiou. Further, .the board deprecates the placing of religious instruction in the hands of teachers." It was stated that of a total roll of 6288 in the board's area 3447 children were receiving Bible instruction .under the Nelson-system, which had been adopted in 42 schools. Other, systems of instruction were carried out in seven schools, V children coming under them.
