Q. C., Owaka. —The address of the person for whom you inquire Is Cl Farringdon street, London, E.C.4. “ Review,” Roslyn.—Newspapers do not reprint death notices free of charge in response to a request that they be copied. If it is desired to have such notices reprinted in any particular newspaper they should be forwarded together with the charge for' insertion. A death notice of a well-known person may, of course, form the basis of an obituary notice in the nows columns of a newspaper outside the district in which the death occurred. “Auction Bridge,” Sutton.—lt Is only possible for Z Y to make five tricks in the suit if the king and one other card are in B’s hand. Lead the two of clubs from dummy and finesse the knave. If It succeeds lead out the ace, when, as B holds * king and one only, the king drops. The wrong method is to lead the queen from dummy, when, if B covers with the king, A or B must take a trick. Tills presupposes that there is a card of re-entry in another suit In Z’s hand. " Fuel," Kyeburn.—Coke Is a fuel of varying quality, obtained by carbonising a bituminous " caking" coal, in specially designed ovens at high temperatures, whereby Its volatile constituents are driven off. It is chiefly valued for the intense heat which it develops on combustion in a good air draught, and for its smokeless burning. It contains, besides carbon and mineral ash, small quantities of hydrogen, nitrogen, sulphur, and oxygen. The best cokes, when dried, contain upwards of 90 per cent, of carbon, and less than 8 petcent, of ash, and have a calorific value of upwards of 13,000 B.Th.Us. per lb. Its principal uses are as a blast-furnace fuel In iron, copper and lead smelting, as a foundry cupola fuel, and for firing crucible furnaces. An inferior “ gas-coke ” is used in the manufacture of water-gas and as a domestic fuel. For general purposes good coal is superior to coke in heating and lasting qualities. Coke Is cheaper than coa -l- . , . 1 "Curious,” Oamaru.—No. The bank observes its contract.
