ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association was held last evening, Mr A.Sharp being in the chair. LINE UMPIRE IN TROUBLE. P.llall, line umpire in the Maori Hill v. Northern game played last Saturday week, who had been requested to attend the meeting for using insulting language, jostling and attempting to strike the referee, forwarded a letter of apology. He denied having struck at the referee, but stated that he may have used bad laoetiage. 'lf so, he was sorry. He further stated that he did not want to bring trouble to the Maori Hill Club. Mr Newall, an official of the Maori Hill Club, attended, and stated that he had intervened and averted trouble between Hall and the referee. He informed the committee that Hall did not actually strike the referee. His club had disciplined Hall and the committee of the club had taken steps to stop any further trouble. In view of the fact that, the Maori Hill Club had already disciplined Hall, it was decided to accept Hall's apology and take no further action iu the matter. HOME MATCHES AT SEACLIFF. A letter was received from the secretary of the Seacliff Club protesting against his club having to play away from home on Saturday last, when it should have played at Seacliff. The secretary expressed the hope that the other matches due at home would be played there. Mr M'lnnes, convener of the Match Committee, remarked that it was never his intention that these games should be played in Dunediu. 7'he secretory (Mr A. W. Sinclair) pointed out that the gate receipts received at the Caledonian Ground had not paid the annual outgoings and the financial aspect would have to be considered when the draws were being arranged. Mr M'lnnes said that the only relief seemed to be an application to the City Council for a reduction of the.'* vicious " charges for grounds. The chairman: I think we will get a rebate. The letter was referred to the Match Committee. CUP FOR JUNIOR FOOTBALL. The junior selectors (Messrs A. Keacb, J. Patton and J. Rigby) waited on the committee and presented a. trophy for annual, competition between the Otago juniors' aud Southland seniors. The chairman, iu thanking the deputation for the trophy, mentioned that Southland would be playing a return game in Dunedin at an early date. He also thanked them for their interest in junior football. GENERAL. Mi- W. A. Woodcock (referee) wrote complaining that the Mornington Club's pavilion at Unity Ground had not been open for the players to dress in on Saturday.—The matter was referred to the Mornington Club. The Roslyn-Wakari Club protested against having to play on the Gardens Ground on Saturday. If the club's ground at Ellis Park was not suitable for senior matches, they desired.to play on a more centrally-situated ground.—The letter was received. The same club also drew attention to a mistake in the Second Grade - table.— The matter was referred to the Match Committee. SATURDAY'S DRAW.
