LEVEL CROSSING SMASH VICTIM DIES IN HOSPITAL. (Per United Press association.) AUCKLAND. July 27. Peter Erstich, aged 45, a wine merchant, who was seriously injured in a level crossing collision at Henderson last evening, died in the hospital this morning. TREE-FELLING ACCIDENT YOUNG MAN FATALLY INJURED. (From Odr Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, July 27. While assisting this morning to fell a tree at Messrs D. Stuart and Co.'s plantation, at Greenfield, where he was employed as a woodsman, Geoffry Stirling, a single man, 21 years of age, was fatally injured. The tree’s fall was arrested by a dead tree and it fell unexpectedly where the deceased was standing before he had time to make ..is escape.
