AWAPUNI TRACK WORK
BLACKSMITH WORKS WELL (Pen Dotted Pbess Association.) PALMERSTON N, July 26. The tracks at Awapuni were very heavy, and the indications are for real winter conditions on Saturday for the Mana watu fixture. The track on the course proper was open this morning, with the flags wide out. Esteem and Square Acre ran seven furlongs in Imin 37 l-ssec, and the first halfmile in 55 2-ssec. Esteem held a slight advantage throughout. Callamart did two rounds of solid pacework, running the last six furlongs in Imin 35sec.
Good Hunting was travelling comfortably alongside Ebeum at the close of five furlongs in Imin 9 l-ssec. Catalogue had the measure of Round Score, with Lord Moutoa a couple of lengths back at the end of five furlongs in Imin 8 I-ssec, the first two in ,26 4-fisec.
King Thomond drew clear of Mid-Acre and Flamen in the run home, running the last three furlongs in 41sec. Golden Chant, alone, left five furlongs behind in Imin B}see, after covering the first two in 26 l-sseo.
Blacksmith strode out freely over six furlongs in Imin 26}sec. Henry of Navarre led Calydon and Boudoir throughgout their six furlongs’ fnsk, and was still clear at the post, traversing the distance in Imin 24 3-ssee. From a barrier start, Gaycoma and Severe Brace, two-year-olds, ran two furlongs in 25Jsec, Gaycoma being in front; a smart effort.
