OTAGO YACHT ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF DELEGATES A meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held in Mr M'Keefry'e board room last evening, when there were present Messrs, A. W. Hazelwood (president), W. 0. Martin, G. Smith, A. Challis, D. Jenkins, W.,Webber, and A.jßuri (secretary). Before the business of the meeting was commenced Mr Martin referred to the bereavement the president had suffered through the death of his mother, members carrying a motion of sympathy with Mr Hazelwood in the customary manner. PRESENTATION TO MR CHALLIS. Two members of the Otago Sanders Cup crew, Messrs R. Kennedy and E. Cuthbert, waited on the association for the purpose of expressing the appreciation of the crew to Mr A. Challis for his support and encouragement as manager of the crew at the last contest, and for his excellent work as the association's delegate to the Sanders Cup Conference. Mr Kennedy, after apologising for the absence of the skipper and the for'ard hand (Messrs I. M'Grath and J. M'Laren), thanked Mr Challis for his untiring efforts on behalf of the crew and the association, and handed him a framed enlarged photograph of the 1934 Sanders Cup crew. The president also thanked Mr Challis for his efforts on behalf of the association at the last contest, Mr Challis briefly replying, and expressing his appreciation of the unexpected gift which had been made to him, and also of the exemplary behaviour of the crew while at the contest. ■•"''.■ GENERAL. It was decided to make application to the Minister of Internal Affairs for permission to hold an art union for the purpose of augmenting the funds of the association, and a sub-committee, consisting of the chairman and the secretary, was set up to deal with the necessary details. On the motion of Mr Martin it was decided to ratify the minutes of the recent meetings of the New Zealand Yachting Council, with the exception of the following clause:--" That not more than one entry shall be received from within the entrance to any harbour," which, it was contended, was aimed principally at preventing Dunedin and Port Chalmers from both entering for the 12ft 6in Z class championship at the same time.
