DEFENCE OF THE MINISTER (Pkb United Press \spociation.) WELLINGTON, July 20. A continuation of the defence of the Native Minister (Sir Apirana Ngata) against whom it had been submitted that he should take the responsibility for a certain part of the detailed administration of the scheme instituted by the department occupied the final day's sitting in Wellington of the commission appointed to inquire into the department's affairs. Mr G. P. Findlay, counsel appearing on behalf of. the Native race, contended that many of the audit's "hectic complaints" were ill-informed, and were not the calm, considered, and accurate statements of fact tlyu might be expected. The commission which has been sitting for about four months has adjourned sine die.
