RELIEF WORK

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —It is a poor excuse for the clergy to say it is the Government’s place to relieve the distress. Parliament represents only one class of the people. Christ said: “ My neighbour is mankind of every description, love you him.” No decent person likes idlers, but a man who is willing to work and has no work should have the same standard of life ns the regular worker. To give back nothing in exchange to those who by their hardship brought along the essentials of life, is the most awful immorality.—l am, etc., ■ June 17. Socialist.
