Few people know tlmt Mr Walter Creighton, to whom has been entrusted the coming pageant of Parliament, is the son of that famous Manclell Creighton who was one of the greatest bishops London has ever had, and was one of Britain's historians. Reared in this atmosphere, Mr Creighton took more or less naturally to the stage as a career, and in his early days read plays for Sir Herbert Tree, and appeared with him in Shakespeare. His mother, Mrs Louise Creighton, who still survives, at 84, is, like her husband was, a noted historian. After the bishop’s death, the. King granted her a suite at Hampton Court Palace, which she occupied for many years until recently, when she went to live at Oxford.
