OPENING OF WANGANUI SEASON. (Peb United Fress Association.) WANGANUI, May 23. The American wrestlers, Fred Meyer and Charlie Santen, met in a six-rounds' contest at Wanganui to-night, Meyer winning bv two falls to one. The bout was interesting although marked by spectacular punching and kicking. The first fall came in tbe third round when Santen threw Meyer with a flying head scissors and applied a body press. Meyer retaliated in tbe fifth round with a backloop slam and double arm lock, and secured his second fall in the following round with a body press following a dump. The match marked the opening of the Wanganui season, and was largely attended, the spectators being well pleased with the bout, and the four amateur matches staged.
