THE DUNEDIN FANCIERS' CLUB

TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—l am disappointed and disgusted at the folly of the Fanciers' Club in ignoring a little advice given it by an old fancier. It seems to me the members of the Fanciers' Club arc all Wowing oyer with knowledge when they are selecting judges for the different sections of animals, and know better than the specialist clubs who the most efficient men are. The Fanciers' Club must know, and cannot shut its eyes to the fact, that with about 200 fewer entries this year and with the working expenses the same, the show must be a financial loss. Surely there are some members of the club who know the meaning of the word " conciliation" and could try to effect a settlement before matters get any worse. The ever-increasing growth of membership of the different specialist clubs (not including utility poultry) is a surprise to me, and it ia just possible the old club may be non-existent in a few years' time unless a change of administration is effected. It is beyond ray understanding or imagination why a certain judge should again be elected after the club had its attention drawn to the fact of his judging blind birds, etc. And now an old and faithful exhibitor and worker of the club bass been discarded. I understand he was made a life member for hie honovrable and faithful service to the club, but he is not wanted now, although his services were again available and be would be able to do the job required of him. It seems as though the Utility Poultry Club is runniug the old club, but without any credit to it. It is not yet too late to call a meeting of the specialist clubs together, for l feel quite sure a satisfactory settlement could be reached, thereby saving those members who may show from an uncom-

fortable feeling.—-I am, etc., Dunedin, May 20. FANCIER.
