BRIGHTON UNEMPLOYED

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Can you throw any light on this matter for me? In Brighton there are several gangs of unemployed under the Taieri County Council. Why can some of these unemployed get home at 2.30 on a wet day while other gangs have to hang about under trees or take advantage of such shelter as they can get till the usual time comes to go home? 1 see no reason why all the gangs should not be treated alike. Surely each ganger receives the same instructions. Are the men not entitled to their day if it is declared too wet to work at a certain time? I think that as the work being done is of no vital importance the men's health should be given some consideration. Will tho county engineer throw some light on the matter? I will be greatly obliged, if he will.—l am, etc., Live and Let Live. Brighton, May 4.
