RUGBY LEAGUE PLAYERS APPLICATIONS FOR REINSTATEMENT. (Peb United Press Association,) WELLINGTON, May 2. The largest number of applications for reinstatement to the Rugby Union game from Rugby League players that the New Zealand Rugby Union has had at one time was dealt with at to-night’s meeting of the Management Committee. The majority of the 113 applications came from Auckland and Wellington, but Canterbury, the West Coast, and North Auckland figured prominently in the list. “All the League players must be now back in Rugby, remarked one member of the committee. The secretary (Mr A. E. Neilson) said he had had a new cabinet installed to cope with the large number of applica? tious. > Among the reinstatements which were approved were those of C. D. Campbell (North Otago) and J. R. de Courcy (Otago). BROADCASTING OF MATCHES SUB-COMMITTEE TO REPORT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 2. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs S. S. Dean, J. Roache, and J. Prendcville was set up by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union to-night to deal with the question of Rugby broadcasts and report later to the Management Committee. Regarding the question of Maori football, which was referred to the Management Committee by the annual meeting, Mr Dean suggested that a meeting should be held with the Maori executive. Action was wanted speedily, and the position could be outlined to the Maori executive. A meeting with representatives of the Maori unions and European unions concerned could then be held. A meeting between the Management Committee and the Maori executive was arranged for May 16.
