KAURI GUM INDUSTRY

CONTROL TRANSFERRED TO CROWN (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 22. From April 1 next the Kauri Gum Control Board will be abolished. The abolition of the hoard aud the transference of all its powers and duties to the Crown on a date to be fixed by _ Order-in-Council was provided for in the Finance Bill (No. 2) passed during the last session of Parliament. The board was originally constituted under the Kauri Gum Control Act, 1925, and an Order-in-Council published in to-night’s Gazette terminates the board by repealing the 1925 legislation. As a result of the abolition of the board, it has been necessary to frame amending regulations under the Kauri Gum Industry Act, 1908. These amendments, which are also published in the current issue of the Gazette, give to the commissioner of Crown lands the powers previously held by the board in respect to the issue of licenses.
