On the top of a mountain in Mexico, 14,000 ft above sea level, two explorers recently found several idols, bits of pottery and other clay pieces, Riving evidence that this lofty eminence was once the site of an ancient Indian temple. This is believed tp be the highest point in North America where Indians once worshipped. At one time, it is believed, there was a shrine on top of the mountain to which Indians went to offer gifts to the “ God of the Mountain ” when desiring rain and good crops. The Indians to-day, however, believe the top of this mountain is inhabited by an evil spirit, which drops rocks on daring climber*.
