DARING THEFT

SAFE REMOVED BODILY . (Pee United Press Association.) ’■WELLINGTON, March 13. A safe weighing scwt wag stolen from the Central Meat Auction Mart in Ghuznee street. The theft was evidently the work, of an experienced gang. Entrance was effected through a window facing an alleyway at the side of the premises. The thieves then removed the safe from the accountant’s room and carried it through a side door into the alleyway. It is presumed that the thieves used a motor vehicle to transport the safe to some place where they could force it open. The safe contained about £SO in cash and the books,of the company.

A later message states that the safe was recovered *at the top of Makara Hill toclay, but no arrests have been made, inc safe had been chiselled open and. £SO in cash taken, but the office books were recovered intact.
