TRENTHAM TRACK WORK
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 13. . Although the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting is only three days off, the solitary "visitors yet on the scene are Lordly Knight and Bellhroncy. and it is not expected that there will be any move arrivals till the eve of the fixture. The weather Conditions this morning were as bleak as in the depths of winter, and after overnight rain the track was easv. It will take a lot more rain than is likely to 'fall during the next few days, however, to seriously affect the going, but thdre is little prospect at present of a hard track.
'Red Sun picked up Normandy at six furlongs, ran seven pleasingly, drawing past his mate near the post to win the trial by half a length in Imin 29lsee. The last six was run in Imin 16Jsee and the last half in. 51 l-ssec. Red Sun’s rider in the Thompson Handicap will ho G. Duncan. 7 Epigram was matched witli Lordly Jvnight over six furlongs, and ho left .Ids companion jn the final furlong to win •/with the utmost ease-by four lengths in (Imin ICsec, the last half in 51 2-ssec. Epigram’s rider in the Thompson Handicap will be W. J. Broughton, ns K. Voitre is 'required for Red Manfred. Te Ua, who looks improved with his last week’s race, traversed seven furlongs well within himself in Imin 32sec.
Palm Queen drew away in the straight to beat Melisande and Gape Fair easily over a mile in Imin 46isec, the last half in 53sec. Palm Queen and Melisande will both start in the St. Leger, but no riders have yet been engaged for them. Bay Area was beaten by a neck by Roderick Dhu over six furlongs in Imin 18sec, the last half mile in 53sec. Lovecourt, who is backward after a let up,’ was badly tailed off. Pegged Exchange, another who has done litle recent work, came down from three furlongs in 381 sec. Choral was going easily three lengths in front of Misfire at the end of half a mile in 51 l-ssec. She is an improving youngster.
Bellbroney easily beat Lyrical by several lengths over six furlongs in Imin 18sec, the last half mile in 52sec. No galloping companion wag available for Autopay, who was allowed to go round under a hold the reverse way. He showed that he is fit by running front the winning post to the seven furlongs in Imin 34sec, and had he been required he could have registered good figures. D. O’Connor is once again to be on him; in the Thomson Handicap. Among the horses to de serviceable tasks were Purse, Quebec, Vitaphone, Colosslcal, Lackston, Morbury, aud Rulate.
