CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of directors of the Caledonian Society of Otago was held last evening, when Mr Peter Findlay, in the absence of the president (Mr John Hope), reported to the meeting on arrangements made for the sports meeting to be held on Saturday. The programme, which was approved by the directors, is of a varied and most interesting nature. In addition to primary and secondary school events, band displays, gymnastic display, folk dancing by 200 Girl Guides, amateur athletic events, piping and dancing competitions, an interhouse competition has been arranged among . the various business houses. Among the entrants for this competition is a team from the Bruce Woollen Company,. Ltd., at Milton. A very interesting innovation will < be the bowling competition for lady cricketers, a special trophy for which has been presented by Mr John Hope. In the evening professional running and cycling events will be staged, and exhibitions of piping and dancing will ■be given. Further entertainment will be provided by a Maori party, which will render several items. The remaining part of the programme will be taken up by dancing, the mußic for which wlil % '. provided by the Otago Regimental Band. Seventeen new members were elected.
