It was stated a few weeks ago that at the present rates the ordinary type of omnibus used in London paid about £4OO a year in taxation. The sum works out approximately at 22 shillings a day, so that the first 264 penny far«s taken each day go to the Treasury. It is only after this.that there is anything available for wages and other expenses, or for profit.
