Retuirak issued to-night by the Unemployment Bdkrd show; that the applicants ' for work on the registers of, the Government' employment bhreaux on February If ’ totalled 41,896. This number includes 4220 men’6u the registers -inplaced pr ineligible for unemployment relief for .various reasons. Of the remaining 87,676 receiving relief it is estimated that 11,500 were ; employed on developmental and reproductive work calculated to benefit the Dominion’s primary industries; workers engaged in industrial undertakings whose eamiugs are subsidised from the Unemployment Fund end farm workers (schemes 4a, 4b, e.c.), 10,000} building tradesmen and builder:.* labourers under scheme 10, 6954; workers in Government departments and local body camps under scheme 66 (principally single men), 2738; Workers employed by the Public Works Department at standard rates of pay (principally, married men), 3342; gold miners and. prospectors, 3608 ; miscellaneous, 80total, 26,722.
