WAKARI FLOWER SHOW

A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The annual flower show of the Wakari School Committee was held at the school hall on Saturday afternoon. There was an excellent display in most sections, the Duality all round being very satisfactory, n every department, and especially in the case of the cut flowers and decorative sections, the exhibits were tastefully arranged, and an excellent effort was secured by nearly all the exhibitors. Though the number of entries in some classes was not up to last year’s figures, the quality was well up to standard. Mr J. L. Passmore was responsible for an attractive exhibit consisting principally of pot plants, and this occupied the whole of one end of the hall. As is always the case at this show, the baking section was well supported, and though the judges saw fit in many Instances to refrain from awarding first places, the quality generally was decidedly good. The strongest section was that for industrial work, and there was considerable difficulty in selecting the most deserving exhibits. Some points were lost by exhibitors who showed articles, such as aprons, and though these were elaborately worked they were not the type of article meriting the labour expended on them. The judges were as follows:—Pot plants, cut flowers and vegetables, Mr W. Held; eggs, Mr J. M. Fraser: baking and industrial sections —Misses E. M. Reid, H. Johnstone, and E. Farquharson.
