TUG-OF-WAR CONTESTS
ANOTHER VARIED PROGRAMME The tug-of-War contest, organised in .aid of the Tramways Band- Equipment Fund was continued in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night. There, was a fairly large attendance, and_ keen interest was evinced in the various pulls, which, are being conducted on the two-life system. Considerable interest was again shown in the appearance of the girls teams. The contest will be concluded this evening. . ; ■ , A programme of music was suppliea by the Green Island Municipal Band under Bandmaster F. Clarkson, who also led community singing. This evening the Mosgiel Municipal and Dunedin Highland Pipe Bands will be in attendance. Following are the results:— MEN’ 50-STONE TEAMS. Second- Round.—Maia defeated West Harbour Band. Wharf' Hotel defeated Halfway Bush. 55-STONE TEAMS. Second Round.—Fitzroy A defeated Fitzroy B, Brockville defeated Wharf Hotel 60-STONB TEAMS. Second Round.— Fitzroy defeated Foreman and Nicol, Brockville defeated Woodhaugh, LADIES’ TEAMS. Exhibition Pull.—Maia defeated Bluebirds. BANDSMEN. Second Round.—West Harbour defeated Tramways. DOUBLE PULLS. ’ 18-stone. —Topping and Vernon defeated Wilson and Griffin, Griffin and Wilson defeated Watkins and Wilson. 20-stone.—Sorintag and Welham defeated Burnett and Kemp, Sonntag and Welham defeated Davis and Goutts, Kemp and Burnett defeated Vernon and Fraser. 22-stone. —Kearney and Fraser defeated Lockhart and Nicol 1, Fraser Brothers defeated Welham and Macdonnell, Kearney and Duncan defeated Lockhart and Hines-
