ADDRESS IN CHRISTCHURCH AN ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 22. A remarkably enthusiastic receptioa was accorded the- Leader of the Opposition (Mr M. J. Savage) when he spoka last night for the first time in Christchurch "as leader of the Labour Party. The Choral Hall was packed, and cheers and applause were frequent. On the motion of Mr H. M'Caw, chairman of the Labour Representation Committee, a vote of- thanks and confidence was accorded Mr Savage on a show of hands. The motion was carried unanimously, and the meeting ended with cheers lor Mr Savage.
