Whilst working an electric washing machine a Milton young woman named Ivy Anderson, a daughter of Mr James Anderson, of the Excelsior Tsa Rooms, had the misfortune to have her left hand end wrist severely crushed through being drawn into the rollers. About 200 local ratepayers attended a meeting in the Coronation Hall last night to hear an outline of the Borough Council's proposals regarding, a gravitation water supply scheme from Glen Stream, North Branch, a distance of approximately six miles. This is a .project on •which a poll of ratepayers will be taken to-morrow on the proposal to raise a loan of £7OOO. Since the disastrous collapse of the water .tower in 1925 the town has been dependent upon the makeshift ot pumping water direct from the Toko River into the reticulation mams, and the quality of the supply thus available has been strongly condemned by the "Hast night's meeting was addressed by the Mayor (Mr James Gray), Cr A. Rennie (chairman of the Borough Councils Water Committee),, Cr E. Moore (chairman ot the Finance Committee), and Mr * W H Stevens (the engineer whose echeme has received the unanimous support of the Borough Council).
