British golfers in Bacdad have been faced with a heavy increase in the cost of their pastime. The reason is the crows. For the last two yenrs a poultry farm had heen conducted near the golf course, but crows stole so many eggs that the farmer gave up his business. The crows, deprived of their usual diet of eggs, apparently came to the conclusion that golf balls would do as well. So now ; they swoop down on the course and carry the balls out of sight. Nearly 50 balls have been lost thus in one week, and two clubs are considering employing greenkeepers armed with shotguns to keep oft' the raiders.
