That advertisement appeared in an English newspaper, and a " weli-educarcd, pretty young lady" happened to see it To-day, at only 19 years of age, this girl is a brilliant tiger tamer, and is known to the animal trainm o world as "Cilly." "When I took on that first job I was 16," she told an interviewer. "I was given six young tigers, and my* first task was to, make friends with the animals." During those first days there was no danger for Cilly, but the great moment came when her real commenced. " I had to face the animals for the first time in a 36ft long cage, and to begin the work of taming them," she says. "It was external circumstances that made me really conscious of the danger, for at both ends of the age were firemen with hoses ready for action." The secret of Cilly's success is that she is on almost " personal terms" with her charges.
