BEAUMONT FLOWER SHOW

SUCCESSFUL FIRST VENTURE (From Oub Own Correspondent.) LAWRENCE, February 21. A horticultural show was held in the Coronation Hall, Beaumont, on Saturday under the auspices of the Beaumont branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, and proved a successful function for the first venture of its kind. The residents rallied around the officials, and a capital display was the result, the hall being taxed to its utmost capacity. In the flower section some very fine gladioli were /shown by Mr A. L. King, of Lawrence, the best being Bentleigh-Marmora and W. H. Phipps. Mrs Buchanan exhibited a very fine lilium auratum. Mr T..H. Clark, of Lawrence, sent forward a fine collection of perennial phlox for exhibition only. The vegetables, as a whole, were good, especially the potatoes, onions, carrots, turnips, and rhubarb.! The needlework and baking sections were very good for the first show and reflected credit on the exhibitors. Mr T. H. Clark (Lawrence) judged the flowers, fruit, and vegetables classes;. Miss Hopkins (Lawrence) the needlework; and Mrs Norman Martin (Beaumont) the baking Sections. Mrs Williamson (president of the. division) and Miss M.
